About Frija Omina
Now we like to answer your questions, how production works at Frija Omina and from where our raw materials are.
Raw materials:
Most of the Fija Omina products are mainly made of cotton jersey with a cotton content of 95%. An admixture of 5% Spandex ensures the elasticity of the fabric.
The cotton itself is grown and harvested in Portugal and Turkey. All participating farms are committed to controlled organic cultivation.
Weaving and dyeing the cotton into fine jersey or fluffy velour fabric takes place predominantly in Germany or, more rarely, in our neighboring EU countries. All partner weaving mills are GOTS certified.
GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard and includes environmental requirements for raw materials as well as minimum social standards.
Our swimwear is made from recycled nylon, which is partly obtained from disused fishing nets from the Mediterranean. The raw material is processed into smooth and soft nylon in the immediate vicinity - in Italy. Our partner weaving mill holds the OEKO-Tex Standard 100 certificate and is also certified according to the Global Recycling Standard GRS. The product quality is also checked every year by Bureau Veritas.
Beside to the aforementioned materials, our clothing consists of other small parts, such as sewing thread, of course. Here we pay attention to regionality, too.
The sewing thread is made in the Czech Republic. Our supplier is also OEKO-Text 100 certified, of course.
Open manufacture Frija Omina:
The entire production of the Frija Omina products takes place in our own manufacture in Perleberg and Tangendorf, Brandenburg, Germany. Seven employees are currently working here, cutting fabrics, sewing them into underwear, swimwear & Co. and packing the ordered goods.
We interact in a familiar and healthy working atmosphere and all of our colleagues are passionate about it.
As one of the few clothing manufacturers, we invite you to get your own picture of the production conditions at Frija Omina right here on site. Just come and visit us in Perleberg and take a look at the production process while operations are running.

Responsible use of resources:
For not generating unnecessary over-productions, we produce each order separately. Conversely, this leads to a longer delivery time, as each order must first be cut and sewn, of course.
As a matter of course we use green electricity in the entire manufacture. LED lighting and switchable power strips reduce power consumption. Heating costs are minimized through sustainable natural fiber insulation.
Your returns will not be thrown away! We try to clean these returns and, if they are in perfect condition, we put it back on sale. We will send you any returns that are no longer usable or put them in the clothing donation after washing.
Frija Omina uses scraps of fabric to make braids, cuffs and chic headscarves. Segments that are too small, are handed over to a regional disposal company for the production of pillow fillings and moving blankets.
The fabric drum cores are returned to the fabric dealers for reuse, if they are not labeled. If possible, we use cardboard boxes again or recycle them. Our remaining paper consumption is also minimized as much as possible, e.g. through duplex-printing and digitization of business processes.
Packing & Shipping
We pack your orders plastic-free. All items are wrapped in wrapping paper and sealed with a small adhesive.
The cardboard boxes and the wrapping paper are made of recycled paper. For sealing the boxes, we are using adhesive paper tape.
DHL picks up your parcels three times a week and takes over the transport via "go green".
